Sandy Revell

Holistic Psychologist

BA, BSS (Psychology, Honours), DPC (Post Graduate Studies in Development Psychiatry), Registered with AHPRA and member of EMDRAA and AAPI

Sandy completed her undergraduate studies through the University of Tasmania and completed her Honours at Charles Sturt University.  Following this she went on to complete an intensive 12-month course in Developmental Psychiatry through University of Melbourne and Monash University.  She is registered with AHPRA and is a board approved supervisor.  She is also a member of EMDRAA and the AAPI.

Sandy offers a warm, compassionate, and holistic approach to psychology, working with you on the issues that are most important in your life.  She believes that meaningful and lasting healing occurs when we address the whole person - mind, body and spirit.  By gently exploring past experiences and supporting nervous system regulation, she helps individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and move toward the life they were always meant to live.

Sandy has extensive experience working with clients with complex needs, including those with significant mental health issues, individuals living with disabilities and acquired injuiries, as well as those referred through insurance and compensation schemes.  Her approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful, creating a safe and supportive space for healing growth and long-term wellbeing.

Clients seek support for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, depression, panic, trauma (PTSD and complex PTSD), OCD, phobias, and other psychiatric conditions.  She also works with individuals experiencing chronic pain or illness, sleep disturbances, grief and loss, eating disorders, attachment-based challenges, life cycle transitions, parenting concerns, relationship difficulties, and challenges with emotional regulation, behaviour, communication, and social skills development.

In addition to therapeutic support, Sandy provides assessment and screening for neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions.  She supports individuals' post assessment, offering personalised and goal-focused interventions tailored to each person's unique needs, strengths, and circumstances.

Her work draws from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities.  One of her preferred approaches - and one that many clients specifically seek is Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

What is EMDR?  EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and integrate distressing or traumatic experiences that may remain "stuck" in the nervous system.  Using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, gentle tapping, pulsators, or auditory sounds, EMDR supports the brain's natural capacity to heal.  This approach can be particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, phobias, and complex presentations, often leading to meaningful and lasting change without the need to relive experiences in detail.
